In Senegal, society mainly consists of residents whoanning, training and employment with hearing-impaired people. However, while deaf people are excluded and live on the margins of society, they represent an important group (1%).

It has since been discovered that deaf children hear with their eyes and that they express themselves as easily as hearing children, using their hands and means of expression. Unfortunately, there is no organized and adapted state education for these deaf people in Senegal.

Some very limited literacy projects allow children and adults to express themselves with gestures, but there is no real education here. As a result, thousands of deaf children grow up without developing their cognitive, emotional and social skills…

The opportunity to contribute productively to society is virtually non-existent for them. Their exclusion and isolation as children, and later as adults, remains a major problem.
Our school association refuses to accept this situation because this large generation demands recognition and socialization, problems that actually go far beyond deafness itself.

We also regret the lack of responsibility on the part of the government for their integration into society, especially since decrees or laws have already been signed in the past (Social Orientation Act n ° 2010-15 of 6 July 2010) ... The captains would without delay, but nothing happens at all and the situation remains unchanged.

Since there is no official and special education for the deaf, no special training is provided for teachers. On a pedagogical level, the school association works together with the school for the deaf in Cotonou – Benin and can count on their guidance and training. At the start of the 2014-2015 school year, 3 new classes were opened. In 2021, we will have about a hundred students aged 4 to 17 and we will work day in day out to develop inclusive education where deaf and hearing students are taught in the same classroom by a single teacher in French and sign language.

Sport and relaxanning is an essential part of every child's education. The energy of deaf children can also be channeled in the right direction with the sport. Thanks to the school, the deaf also participate in inter-school football matches, practice rugby, and basketball and learn to swim. Judo also promotes mutual respect and discipline.

The school group continues to strive to lift deaf children out of ignorance. To this end, they try to extend our radius of action to more remote areas, where nothing is provided for them. That is why a boarding school was opened in October 2016, within walking distance of the school group, to provide shelter for about 50 children between 5 and 15 years old. The children are fully taken care of and can relax in various areasannand and develop. A happy and large family was thus created. The costs for their education and their accommodation are financed by donations. In time, the boarding school will develop in function of the number of children admitted who have reached school age.

The activities of these children are comprehensive and gradually replace the hard times of their first years of life: sports, manual activities, excursions, collective games, Lego, etc.

In order to allow the deaf young people to function autonomously later on, we set up workshops and workshops so that they can learn a trade (sewing, gardening, coiffure, knitting and crochet, ceramics and pottery, bookbinding, carpentry, metal processing, patisserie, etc.). This requires an efficient and professional approach. That is why the organization works together with training centers in the area where deaf young people are trained.
