As a volunteer you will work in the center and you will be actively involved mainly with children and young people of different ages between 3 and 19 years.
We have a well-equipped library on the mezzanine of this room where the children can not only read quietly but also do their homework. The library is equipped with 3 fixed computers and 7 laptops. The organization also has its own internet antenna in the room.
There is also a playground that is well maintained and where there are many opportunities for sports and games. In addition to the library, the center has a spacious hall, a kitchen, storage room and doctor's office.
For the holiday period, which falls in January and February in Peru, it is the task to keep children entertained during this holiday period in a useful way (playground activities). This can range from sports and games to crafts and even basic English and ICT initiation. Due to the large age difference, it is best to work in groups in order to adapt in this way to the possibilities of each age category.
The volunteer is expected to have good experience in organizing sports, games and crafts. Someone with a background in the youth movement, for example, but also people with, or in, a pre-primary or primary education.
A good knowledge of Spanish is an 'absolute requirement'. A good knowledge of English is also highly desirable.
In addition to at least a good language knowledge, it is certainly recommended to have a good knowledge of ICT in order to be able to give initiation ICT to the children.
Activities run between mid-December and mid-March. Your schedule depends on the time of year and you discuss it with your mentor and local officials. You have sufficient freedom to organize a diversity of activities.
